Editing web pages
 A common question we get is how do I get started?
Once you have the website template opened with your website edtior, it is as simple as double clicking on the file you want to edit in your folder list. This will open up the file in
"Design" view so that you can edit the page in WYSIWYG mode.
The "index", "default", or "home" page
Every "website" has a default page that is loaded when you specify only the domain address in a web browser (such as IE or Firefox). For example, when you visit "www.luckymarble.com", what is actually loading up is a page called "index.php".
All of our website templates will include an "index.htm" page -- this is considered your "index" or "default" page. If you are using Microsoft FrontPage, it is also considered the "Home" page of your navigation.
The term "home" page can be used to describe the index page, or first "non-flash" page.
Adding Pages
Simply select the page in the folder list that you want to use as your "base" template, hit CTRL-C (copy) and then CTRL-V (paste). You will notice that at the bottom of your folder list that a new "copy" of the page has been created.
You can then right click on that new page and select "Rename" to rename the filename of this page.
Deleting Pages
Simply select the page in the folder list and hit the "delete" button on your keyboard -- remember, you CANNOT UNDO deleting a page.
How to name web pages
A few usefull tips:
· HTML pages always have a .htm or .html extension (it doesn't matter which one you use, but it would be best to stick with one or the other)
· Use all lower case
· Never use spaces, quotes, commas, or apostrophies. If you want to signify a "space", use an underscore "_" or a dash "-" instead.
"WYSIWYG" is Good, but "Previewing in Browser" is Better
To be honest, your website editor software's WYSIWYG mode is "okay", but it doesn't do the best job of rendering the page as it should appear in your web browser. If you're using
FrontPage, you have the ability to use the "Preview" mode -- this doesn't render dynamic components very well either.
If you want to "preview" your web page, "right click" on the page you want to view (in the folder list) and select "Preview In Browser".
