"Backing Up" your LIVE website template using FrontPage 2003 or Expression Web Designer
Open up FrontPage
Select "Publish Web" from the "File" menu
If it asks you to specify the "Remote Website" location, specify your website address.
Click the "Open"/"Okay" button
Another dialog box will open asking you for your username/password for your FrontPage website -- enter login information and click "Okay"
Just above the "Publish Web" button are three radio buttons. If you want to "backup" from your REMOTE website, select "remote to local". Remember to change this back to "Local-to-remote" once you're done the backup
Click the "Publish Web" button
If alerted "The following files will not work on a server without FrontPage Extensions", click "Continue".
If asked "The destination navigation differs from your local navigation structure, what do you wish to do?", always select "Replace". Never select "Merge"
