"Publishing/Transferring your template to your web server"

Untitled Document

"Transferring" your website to your web server using an FTP program

Please note: it would be near impossible for us to provide instructions for every ftp application out there. About all we can do is give answers to common questions that are asked when publishing up with FTP.

What you need to specify in your FTP program:
  1. Specify your FTP host (this is likely your web address without the www -- example: yourweb.com) *
  2. Specify your "Host Directory" * (also known as the destination folder)
  3. Specify your "Login" *
  4. Specify your "Password" *
* You will have received this information from your web hosting company. If you do not have it, contact them.

Where the "source" folder is:
  1. This is the folder that contains your web pages, such as "index.htm", "about_us.htm", etc.
Important Note:
When transferring up a website using FTP, it is important to select all the files/folder in your website -- some folders/files created by FrontPage (if you're using FrontPage to edit your site) are hidden to some applications. The only time you don't want to transfer all files/folders is if you have a "website module" plugin where you've been instructed NOT to publish it up after you have run the installation sequence.
