"Fixing problems on a live website"

Common Problems when publishing to a server using FrontPage Extensions
The "navigation menu bar" no longer displays graphic buttons, but instead displays text
- This is normally a problem in FrontPage 2000 only
- Go to the "Format" menu, select "Theme", select the "theme" theme that your website template uses from the list on the left, select the "apply to entire site" radio button, and then click the "Apply" button.
- Save all open pages.
- Re-publish your website out to your web server
On the live website, the menu bar doesn't display the same (or any) buttons that are on my local website's pages.
- This is because your "remote" (aka "live") website's navigation structure differs from your local website.
- You'll need to make a small change to the navigation structure, such as adding another page to the navigation view.
- When you got "republish" your website out to your server, click the "Remote Website Properties" button and then on the "Publishing" tab select the "overwrite all files" radio button.
- Republish your site out to your web server
I am working live on my website, and am trying to make a change to my DWT or include page but my changes do not show up.
- Most web servers cannot update a site that uses DWT if you work on it live.
- The only thing you can do is to "re-apply" the DWT pages. To do this select "Updated All Pages" from the "Format->Dynamic Web Template" menu.
When I submit a "FrontPage Form", I get a message that says that there's a problem with the FrontPage extensions.
- This is not a problem with the website template, but rather how it connects to your web server's FrontPage extensions.
- Some web servers do not allow you to "email" the results of the form out -- try removing the email address from the "Form Properties", republishing, and then re-submit the form.
- If your "menu bars" still appear, then it likely isn't a problem with your FrontPage extensions, rather a problem with the configuration of the form. For the
best advice in this situation, you can either contact your web hosting provider, or check out Microsoft's FrontPage Help Site here.
My images for my flash movie are not displaying
- Double check that the image filenames are all lower-case (including the file extension).
- If you're using Photoshop or PaintShop, make sure that the images are "non-progressive jpeg", or "progressive" is turned off
