Phase 3: Going Live/Ongoing Maintenance
"Publishing/Transferring your template to your web server"
Untitled Document
"Publishing" your website template using FrontPage 2003 or Expression Web Designer
Both of these programs use the same interface to "publish/transfer" your website out to your web server.
Both have the capability to connect with a web server
with "FrontPage Extensions" or to a server with an "FTP Connection". We suggest that if you have access to a server with FP Extensions, use it.
With your website template open in FP 2003 or Expression Web Designer:
Select the "Publish Site" option from the "File" menu.
A dialog box will open asking you the address of the "remote website location". Specify "http://www.yourweb.com"
Choose the "Remote Server Type" -- common selections are "FrontPage or Sharepoint Services" and "FTP"
Click the "Open"/"Okay" button
Another dialog box will open asking you for your username/password for your FrontPage website -- enter login information and click "Okay"
Make sure the "Local to Remote" radio button is selected
Click the "Publish Web Site/Transfer" button
If asked "The destination navigation differs from your local navigation structure, what do you wish to do?", always select "Replace". Never select "Merge"
